BA and BA hons at Wits;

DPhil at the University of York in the UK (a philosophical approach to proper names and personal identity in the novels of Charles Dickens);

I have published several articles on post-apartheid SA literature and art, jurisprudence, and philosophy of language.

My monograph on Coetzee, J.M. Coetzee: Countervoices, is due to appear in October 2009 (Palgrave).

My second book, Drawing the Line: Towards an Aesthetics of Post-Apartheid Justice, is under contract with Fordham University Press.

I teach in the English Department at the University of Cape Town.
