Jennifer Wenzel My scholarly interest in South Africa originated in a dissertation (at the University of Texas at Austin) on J. M. Coetzee and Bengali writer/activist Mahasweta Devi. My book, Bulletproof: Afterlives of Anticolonial Prophecy in South Africa and Beyond (Chicago and KwaZulu-Natal, 2009) takes a broader view of South African literary production in relation to historical imagining by examining narrative revisions of the 1856-57 Xhosa cattle killing.
