Professor Keyan Gray Tomaselli is Chair of the Programme in Culture, Communication and Media Studies (CCMS), University of Natal, Durban. He is Director of the CCMS Graduate Division. Tomaselii is author of numerous books and articles on
South African media, semiotics and African cinema, and works with the Michigan State University African Media Program on an African media website. A Fellow of the University of Natal, he was previously a Honorary Research Associate at the Smithsonian Institution, and has acted as extenal examiner for a variety of African
universities. He is editor-in-chief of 'Critical Arts: A Journal of South-North Cultural and Media Studies' and is series editor of 'Critical studies in African Media and Culture', published by International Acadenic Publishers, Colorado Springs. Tomaselli has been a visiting professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and at Michigan State University, where he has also served as a Fulbright Scholar. He has lectured in universities in 20 states in the USA.
