Sabine Marschall

Sabine Marschall is a German art historian (PhD Tubingen University) now permanently residing in South Africa, where she is currently employed as programme co-ordinator for Cultural and Heritage Tourism at the University of Durban-Westville. She previously lived in South Carolina (USA), teaching at Clemson University and at Wofford College. Her research interests include South African art and architecture, art historiography, issues around representation (especially in the field of museums and the expanding heritage sector); as well as cultural tourism. Her recent major publications include a book, co-authored with Brian Kearney, entitled ''Opportunities for Relevance: Architecture in the New South Africa'' (UNISA Press: Pretoria 2000) and a monograph on 'Community Mural Art in South Africa' (UNISA Press: Pretoria 2002). She is currently working on post-apartheid monuments and memorials.
